President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Jowhar, the interim administrative capital of Hirshabelle State, on Thursday for an official visit.
The President, accompanied by Somali Air Force Commander Brigadier General Abdirizaq Mohamud Haji and several senior government officials, was received by Hirshabelle State President Ali Hussein Gudlawe.
During the visit, President Mohamud inaugurated several development projects across the state, including the official residence of the Hirshabelle president and a number of roads in the agricultural town of Jowhar.
The visit marks President Mohamud’s first trip to Hirshabelle since 2022 and is expected to focus not only on development initiatives but also on discussions surrounding the state’s upcoming historic elections denounced by the opposition leaders in the country.
