MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, on Saturday met with the Defence Attaché of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Somalia, Major General Ahmed Fathi Abdel Sattar, to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed ongoing security collaboration between Somalia and Egypt, with discussions focusing on military training, support for the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), and efforts to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Somali National Armed Forces.
Major General Ibrahim highlighted the importance of deepening the longstanding relationship and strategic partnership between the two countries, commending Egypt’s continued contribution to the development of Somalia’s security institutions.
Major General Ahmed Fathi Abdel Sattar reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts to enhance security and stability, particularly through military training programmes and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening defence institutions.
