Somali Engineers Depart for Malaysia for Specialized Training

Mogadishu, Somalia – A team of Somali engineers and geologists from the Somali Petroleum Authority (SPA) has departed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to undertake specialized Safety and Emergency Training as part of preparations for Somalia’s offshore petroleum exploration program.

According to Somali officials the training program is designed to equip the young engineers with best practices required for offshore petroleum operations.

 The initiative reflects Somalia’s commitment to building a highly skilled national workforce capable of supporting the country’s growing energy sector.

The training will also enhance the capacity of Somali experts to contribute safely, effectively, and professionally to petroleum exploration and development projects

As Somalia advances its offshore exploration activities, strengthening the technical and safety competencies of local professionals remains a key priority..

Officials from the Somali Petroleum Authority emphasized the importance of investing in human capital to ensure that Somali professionals are prepared to meet the demands of the industry while adhering to global safety standards.
